I am available for one-to-one therapy with adults or adolescents.
I also work with couples, families and with groups.
Thoughtful and intentional counselling is worthwhile for many reasons; personal or relational pain, life changes, new beginnings. You may be overburdened by depression or anxiety, grief or loss. You might be concerned about difficulties in a relationship. You might be concerned about forming meaningful career or personal goals. You might feel that you have not done what you can with your life and you want to explore what holds you back, or what is your way forward. In a reflective counselling relationship change begins with a clear understanding of your unique circumstances and concerns. A broad overview of some concerns I have addressed with clients include:
- Grief and Loss
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Self Esteem
- Decision-making
- Life changes or transitions (new job, relationship or family addition, health concerns, etc.)
- Career Counselling
- Job Related concerns
- Relationship concerns
- Cultural concerns
- Spiritual or Religious Concerns
- Recovery from abuse
- Childhood or family concerns
- Trauma
- LGBT concerns
Of course, each person’s interest in therapy is unique so this list may or may not seem to fit for you. Please contact me if you have questions or if you want to explore what might work for you.
My work is informed by a Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic approach. This means my work focusses on experience and relationships as key to fostering personal and collective change. The approach is well supported in research. Meaningful engagement using this approach fosters long term integrated change related to a variety of concerns (for example, see www.efpp.org/texts/shedler.pdf ). In an effort to work effectively with each client, I may also draw from a number of approaches including: Existential, Experiential, Family Systems, Emotionally-Focussed, Narrative, Solution-Focussed, and Cognitive-Behavioral interventions. I also use EMDR to address a variety of concerns including trauma. Essentially, all of these help design a change process that fits. The experience of therapy is shaped by what best suits you. What do you want or need? How can we work together to make that happen?
In addition to counselling, I am available for consultation, supervision, training, and presentations.
